Photo booth for a communion or spring party: practical tips

For a communion or spring party lasting a few hours, the Comfort photo booth (€375, up to 6 hours) is enough. For a longer party, Care-Free (€400) covers the whole day or evening and night. Both packages include unlimited personalised prints that guests take away straight away.
A photo booth at a communion or spring party works best with prints: the guest of honour, the little cousins and the grandparents all crowd in front of the camera together and take their photo straight home. For a party of a few hours, Comfort (€375, up to 6 hours) is enough. If it's going to last longer, go for Care-Free (€400) for the whole day or evening and night.
A photo booth is a portable photo system. We deliver and install it at your home or party venue and collect it again afterwards, at a time you arrange with us.

Where do you put the booth at home or in the garden?
Many of these parties fall in spring, and you never know what the weather will do. Outdoors, the photo booth can only go somewhere fully sheltered: in a marquee, under a lean-to or under a canopy, away from rain, moisture and direct sunlight. In a marquee, also watch out for the sun slipping under the canvas later in the day. The Mirrorbooth always stays indoors and can't go up stairs, only on the ground floor or with a spacious lift.
You'll need to provide:
- a clear space with a power socket
- easy access to that spot
- a parking space or loading area, such as a driveway kept free
Place the booth close enough to the tables to be seen, but not in the way to the kitchen or the toilet. That way, a group posing for a photo won't block anyone's path.
How do you make the photos personal for the guest of honour?
You choose between strips of 5 x 15 cm or a single photo of 10 x 15 cm. We don't put any advertising on the print, so all the space is yours.
- Design: borrow the colours and typeface from the invitation, along with the name and the date. The print then feels like a keepsake of this one party.
- Communion theme: white flowers, soft pastels, a dove.
- Spring party theme: this celebration is secular, so stick to flowers, butterflies and fresh spring colours.
- Props: hats, wigs, boas, glasses and paper props are included. Add your own flower crowns, or an empty picture frame to look through.
- Backdrop: a physical backdrop is a €50 option. With green screen, you can choose any image you like.

How do you get children and grandparents in front of the lens together?
Children rarely need any explanation. They pull silly faces and try on every wig without being asked, and that helps the adults loosen up. A few things help:
- Let the guest of honour pose first, ideally with the grandparents. That sets the tone and lets everyone know the booth is open.
- Open the booth between the main course and dessert, when the children want to leave the table anyway.
- If the youngest are too small for the frame, have an adult pose with them or lift them up for a moment.
How do you keep the guests' memories?
The print is ready in about 10 seconds, so every guest gets their photo in their hands straight away. If you'd like a copy yourself, the extra prints by post option (€35) is handy: after the party, all the prints are sent to your home in duplicate. In a guestbook (€35), everyone can write a message next to their photo. A premium guestbook (€75) needs to be ordered at least 2 months in advance. That option also suits a communion well, because the date is usually fixed long beforehand.
Grandparents sometimes prefer to speak their wishes rather than write them down. That's what the audio guestbook is for, at €100 with a booth. You'll find the other extras under the options.
What about photos of children online?
Using the QR code, guests put their photo on their phone and share it on social media or with family who couldn't be there. This requires internet. Feel free to agree that guests first ask the parents whether a photo of their child can go online. We don't use customers' photos for promotion without permission.

What is a photo booth? Also a photobooth or selfie booth
A photo booth is a machine with a camera, a screen and usually a printer, which your guests use to take their own photos and take them home straight away. The same machine is also called a photobooth, selfie booth, selfie pod or photo kiosk. We say photo booth because it's the best known name, even though our booths aren't closed cabins.

Photo booth hire in summer: can it go outdoors?
Yes, a photo booth can go outdoors, but only if fully sheltered in a marquee or under a lean-to or canopy, away from rain, moisture and direct sunlight. The Mirrorbooth always stays indoors.

Why hire a photo booth instead of a photographer?
Hire a photo booth if you want guests to join in and take a print home straight away. A photographer mainly captures the course of your event, and smartphones produce scattered photos that stay with each individual guest.
