Why hire a photo booth instead of a photographer?

Hire a photo booth if you want guests to join in and take a print home straight away. A photographer mainly captures the course of your event, and smartphones produce scattered photos that stay with each individual guest.

Hiring a photo booth pays off if you want your guests to join in rather than look on. They take the photos themselves, laugh together at the result and take a print with them straight away. A photographer delivers something different, and doing nothing costs nothing, but then the photos stay on everyone's own phones.

What's the difference between a photo booth, a photographer and doing nothing?

When is a photo booth the better choice?

A photo booth is the strongest choice if these points matter to you:

  • Everyone goes home with something tangible. In the packages with unlimited prints, every guest can take as many photos as they like.
  • You're also looking for entertainment. With glasses, hats and wigs, guests of all ages let themselves go, and that often gets a party started. With a photographer you look into the lens, with a booth you join in.
  • Your party lasts a long time. The Care-Free booth stays for the whole day or evening/night, with no hourly rate.
  • You want a personal touch. Prints and photo strips get a custom layout, matched to your theme. For a wedding, it can even include a photo of the bride and groom.

The packages differ mainly in prints, duration and extras. You can compare them under all packages and prices.

When is a photographer the better choice after all?

To be fair, a booth stays in one place. It won't capture the ceremony, the speeches or a beautiful group portrait outdoors. If you want the story of the whole day, you need a photographer.

The two don't rule each other out either. The photographer takes the polished images, the booth the spontaneous ones. If you'd still like someone to take the photos but want to keep the instant prints and uploads, you can book our on-site photographer option.

Why not just do nothing?

Because everyone has a smartphone in their pocket anyway, a booth might seem unnecessary. Yet there are three things a phone doesn't do:

  1. It doesn't bring people together. A selfie is taken and forgotten in no time. In front of a booth, people wait and laugh together.
  2. It doesn't give you a print. A strip in your wallet or on the fridge stays around longer than photo number 4,000 on your phone.
  3. You don't get the photos. You rarely see what guests take on their phones. With a booth, you receive everything digitally via a web link.

Online, it's different too. Via a QR code, guests share their photos straight away on social media. That's especially interesting for a company or business, because your event gets more visibility and people find your profile.

Doing nothing, on the other hand, is fine if the budget is tight or if your party is mainly a quiet dinner. Not every event needs entertainment, and a booth also takes up some space.

How much work is it for you as the organiser?

Hardly any. We take care of delivery and installation, which takes about 15 minutes, and we need one power socket nearby. So you don't have to worry about the technology.

You book by email, with no advance payment and up to a year in advance. Our number of photo booths is limited, so it's best to book in good time once your date is set. You can read exactly how that works in how hiring a photo booth works.

Do you organise parties regularly yourself?

For wedding photographers, party venue managers and event agencies, the question is a different one: hire, or invest in a booth of your own? We offer partnership proposals, so you don't have to invest in developing a photo booth and both sides benefit.

Frequently asked questions

Is a photo booth cheaper than a photographer?

It depends on the duration. Our Care-Free package costs €400 for the whole day or evening/night, while our on-site photographer costs €150 for the first hour and then €120 per hour. So from four hours onwards, the photographer is more expensive.

Do I still need a photographer if I hire a photo booth?

For a wedding, often yes, because a booth doesn't capture the ceremony, the speeches or the atmosphere of the day. The booth complements a photographer rather than replacing one.

Is a photo booth worth it for a small party?

Yes, if your guests enjoy doing something together. Even at a small, intimate party everyone goes home with a print, but with a very small group the novelty of the booth wears off sooner than at a big party.

Is your date still free?

Build your booth in two minutes and see an indicative price straight away. There's no commitment and you'll usually get a quote within 24 hours.
